As I made my way to school that Thursday morning, I couldn’t help but think about what I was going to do to Taylor.
Getting even isn’t always bad.
I made my way through the hall towards her locker where, fortunately, she was at.
“Hey Tay,” I said all casual.
“Hey Chanel,” she said, a bit tense.
“Listen, about what happened yesterday, I’m sorry about that remark I made. I didn’t mean it to sound kind of…bitchy. I was just mad so it came out that way. Please don’t tell me you’re still angry about it?” she added on.
Should I still go through with my plan? Umm…yeah.
“Nah, I’m not mad Taylor. I think its great that you apologized but maybe you should have done that, oh, I dunno, yesterday?”
“I know. I was going to call back and say my apologies after you hung up, but I figured that you was not in the best mood.” she said.
Uh-huh.
“Well, whatever. It’s over and done with. Besides, you know the quote “Revenge is a meal best served cold?” I asked her.
“Yeah, I heard something like that.”
“Well, it’s also best served hot.”
And just like that, I went to my homeroom class.

By the time lunch came, I was really worried about Taylor.
Everyone was sitting at our usual table and she wasn’t there.
“Hey, Gin, where is Taylor?”
“Maybe with your “boyfriend” or something. I dunno. I don’t keep tabs on the girl. She is your best friend.” she responded.
“She’s actually our best friend. And we are supposed to keep tabs on her.” I told her.
“Whatever. Oh, look, here she comes.”
Just like that, Taylor was there.
And she looked shaken. Scared. Nervous. Full of fright.
“Tay, are you alright? You look…terrible.” I told her.
She looked up at me with red eyes, indicating she must’ve been crying.
“And by terrible I mean scared. Are you okay?”
“Really Chanel. You have absolutely no idea on what is going on?”
“No clue whatsoever.”
“Really, no jokes.”
“No jokes. No clues. No ideas. What is your problem?”
Then the bell rang. Everyone had to go to their next class.
I walked with Taylor out of the cafeteria. And all hell came loose.
Posters, flyers, notes, pictures. Everything and anything you can imagine all stating one little thing.
TAYLOR HAROLD & JOSH MATTHEWS FOR NEVER ”
“How did anyone know that I liked Josh?” Taylor pleaded.
“I-I-I dunno.”
“Quit saying that! You know perfectly well! You did all this! This is your plan! And “FOR NEVER ♥”? This. This is all your fault!”
And she stormed off, with a crowd of high schoolers laughing at her, throwing papers at her. Her second worst nightmare just came true.

“I was never the cause of this! Ok, so yeah, I wanted my revenge. But not like this! And she won’t believe me!” I told him.
“Chanel, that’s the problem with people. You think you know them, and they do a crazy stunt like this behind your back.” he told me.
“Josh, I did not do this! But I know who did. Why am I even talking to you!”
“Because all your other friends think you did this since they all know you like me.”
“They think you like me back.” I told him.
“Well, maybe I do. I happen to be the cause of all the great events in your life since I came here.”
“Whatever. But can I ask you just one question?”
“Shoot.”
“Why did you do this to Taylor? If you don’t like her and you don’t want to go to prom with her, why couldn’t you have done it privately?”
“Because, I told you if you told anyone about what happened, something was gonna have to be done.” he responded.
“This is what happens when I tell my closest friends about what happened between us? I think they deserved the right to know.”
“Really? We promised, remember? Now, you break the promise, I break your best friend’s heart. I say that we are even.”
“Oh, so not having my friends talk to me is even?”
“Now, that I had never thought of or planned for.”
“Just, just go to hell Josh.”
I slammed my locker shut and walked away.
This time, he didn’t bother to stop me.
I took a look behind me at him.
I could’ve sworn he had a tear run down his cheek.
