Lunchtime

“Ok. Just what I was going to say before Miss J interrupted me, the movie’s called A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Gina told me.

“What the crap? Don’t they have, like, hundreds of movies like that.”

“I dunno. But they are all really gruesome.”

“You disgust me Gin.”

We finished getting our trays and went to our usual table. We weren’t the only ones there either. Taylor, Rick, Bethany, and Chaz were already there.

“Anything new?” I said as I sat down.

“Well, we do have that prom coming up.” Bethany said. She loves dancing in a long pretty gown with the perfect guy, whoever he was.

“I heard about that. Its in what? 2 months? So what you going to wear?” Taylor asked.

“Maybe a midi dress this time. You know, so I won’t trip when I make my grand entrance.” Beth said.

“Found the perfect guy yet, Beth?” I asked her.

“No. Not yet. You?”

“Umm…”

I wasn’t able to tell her “no” since the principal came into the cafeteria. It really isn’t normal. The last time he was here, 2 new exchange students from Asia came. And the time before that, we had, like, 100 new students just enroll into the school.

“I wonder who transferred here this time.” Gina whispered to me.

“Me too.” I whispered back.

John Newton High School (JNHS) is a very welcoming school, but it gets so annoying when we have our class or lunch stopped for some new kids (except for gym. I hate it).

“So, how is everyone doing this lovely afternoon? Good I hope.” Principal Lloyd told us.

“We have a couple of new students in our school this year. So, how about we make them feel welcome. Come on in boys.”

I just sat there, bored, thinking about who the new boys this year were. Last time were geeks (whom I came to be friends with, on occasion) and the time before that were jocks.

“Let’s just hope that they’ll be better than the boys last time.” Beth said.

“Guys, why the hell are there so many boys enrolling into our school.” I ask them.

They all just shrug and I can tell they were wondering the same thing too.

“Ok. I would like to introduce our new students this year. Josh and Nolan Matthews, you two may come out.”

Ha. Ha, ha, ha.

I literally just laughed a bit and then the entire girl population just swooned.

“Holy--”

“GINA!” Taylor yells.

“I was going to say crap, Tay.”

“I really don’t care what Gina was gonna say but I sure as hell agree with her.”
